Who We Are

Looking for a combination of music and fun in the center of The Hague? HSSO Valerius is an ambitious and international symphony orchestra for students and young professionals in The Hague. Together we rehearse every Tuesday evening from 19:30 to 22:00 in the auditorium of the Haagse Hogeschool, led by conductor Arne Visser.

Those weekly rehearsals are there for a reason! Every year Valerius organizes two concerts, one in the spring and one in the fall. In addition, every year we look for interesting projects in which to participate. In recent years we worked with the Dosti Foundation to perform a unique combination of Hindi pop and classical music, played the musical “The Sound of Music” and several classical (piano) concerts by composers such as Grieg and Rachmaninoff. Extra special was our concert at the Haagse Hogeschool in front of our own king during a festive opening of the new academic year. We also accompanied a professional Pink Floyd cover band in a charity concert where we raised 25.000 Euros for the organisation War Child.

International Atmosphere

Our orchestra consists of students and young professionals from different countries. With this diverse group of people we go for a drink in the local bar Xieje after rehearsals. We also organize many fun activities such as study days, barbecues, safari dinners, karaoke nights, game nights and much more! Our members are also actively involved in the orchestra's various committees.
